When I first started learning how the used tech market worked I did not have investors or startup funding. I was building Technitis from scratch and working with a very small amount of capital.
I had about three hundred dollars available and decided to test whether buying and reselling used devices could actually work as a small business model.
My first flip was an iPad that needed cleaning and basic testing. I purchased the device for two hundred dollars and spent time making sure every function worked correctly.
A few days later the device sold for two hundred sixty dollars. The profit was not huge but the experience proved something important. The process worked and the market demand for used devices was real.
Smartphones hold value extremely well compared to many other electronics. Even devices that are several years old still have strong resale demand.
Starting with a small budget forces you to learn the market carefully. The goal is not massive profit on your first sale. The goal is learning how to identify good deals.
After repeating this process several times many resellers increase their inventory from three hundred dollars to more than one thousand dollars within a few months.
One of the easiest ways to increase profit margins is replacing worn out batteries. Buyers are much more comfortable purchasing a used phone when the battery health is strong.
If you want to learn the full repair process you can read the complete phone battery replacement guide.
